Recently playing Hatsune Miku Project Diva

Hatsune Miku Project Diva / 初音ミク Project Diva

Recently playing Miku Project Diva, although i know Miku exit but i never listen to its PV or muisc before. So i only knew how its music / song like when playing this game = =

Played about 10 hour, song list achievement 92%, Cotsume 36%, Gallery 92%

Same as other music game, press the right button at the right time, but Project Diva is quiet easy compare to others since all only have 4 button and each time only have to press one button. But it also have some song is diffuclt , especialy the last few one.
The game have to maintain combo by get "fine" or "cool", and each song will have specific "chance time" that can get bonus score for each button, the bonus score depand on the combo you make, so if want to get "great" for the song atleast have to no break in the chance time. The maximum score for each button bonus score is 5000.

The graphic and the PV of the song are nice, especially "World Is Mine".
And also have more the 50 cotsume can be unlock in the game. And this is the main points that let people want to get high score in the game.

Game also have a Edit Mode that can let player edit their own PV with the song in the game. Stage, camera, action, others...player can make the PV thier want. But i am not interest and dont know how to do it so i did not touch it = =

Miku room...just change the room and some accersories for Miku.

And the last things is the Gallery, have A LOT, REALLY MANY beautiful Miku pic that draw by many people.

I just having a problem in this game...,I dont know is it every one problem or not (but i think that is my problem), start from about number 20th to the last song, will have LAG or JUMP when playing the song, that make me very difficult to play well on the game = =.

The song list i have unlock now, "???" is the one that i did not unlock yet and dont know what is it.

  4. "sigh" what's the format are you using ISO or CSO
if it is CSO it will definitely lag but with ISO it will run smoothly..

  5. Was a proper solution to this problem ever found? There are posts all over the internet complaining about the lag of the first game, but nobody has a solution. I'm not claiming to have found a solution, and I have no way to prove anything I'm about to say is correct, but I want to try to explain what I think is happening under the hood that makes this game run so poorly.

According to complaints, the lag exists for both UMD and ISO copies. Converting CSO to ISO is not the proper solution but could help with loading times. It's been brought up in most of the threads, but it does not solve the problem.

With piracy being ruled out it left me to blame poor coding. There's a lot of things about this game I don't like. The camera in Miku's Room is very rigid and makes it impossible to take any impressive screenshots. Quitting to the main menu forfeits all of your progress without a confirmation. I don't need to mention the problem with the lag again. All things considered, it makes the game seem like it was rushed to production, and I wouldn't be surprised if it was pushed to the shelves before it could be properly playtested. Who knows.

Poor coding is likely not the sole reason for the gameplay lag. I looked through the contents of the ISO, and the few files inside that could be determined to be files containing the music and model data were: DivaDataList.afs and DivaSoundList.afs. Each weighing in at 317,603,840 bytes and 952,094,720 bytes respectively; they make up 90.5% of the ISO's total filesize (for me this is 1,402,927,104 bytes.)

It must make the game pretty organized to have the majority of all of your data located inside two large files, however I have no reason to believe this makes the game perform any faster. The PSP does not have enough RAM to store these files in memory like a computer does. In short, the PSP is always struggling to locate and preload the next bit of information you're about to see on your screen. This is why a loading screen always exists between menus and your actual gameplay.

The first song I noticed had a lot of lag/frame dropping was "Ievan Polkka", which has no animated 3D PV, but is simply a sequence of images (textures). I failed this song pretty badly on easy mode and it made me realize there was a problem. It also makes the perfect example for what I think the problem is. As the PSP struggled to preload the images, a bit of lag would be apparent. This could happen because the data exists near the middle or end of a large file, the file's location is read from the FAT of the storage device (either ISO or UMD), the location is sought, then subsequently read, then the requested data is found somewhere inside the file and it's loaded into memory; to whatever addresses are unallocated or are no longer being used.

This is quite a lot of work for a little device with only 32MB of RAM and a paltry 333MHz CPU.

As for the fully animated, 3D PVs, it's literally the same problem. Textures and models need to be read from this giant file, and it takes a couple extra CPU cycles before they can be found. It's a case of a game that pushes the PSP hardware to its absolute limits.

Some people claimed a performance increase in the PSP-2000 model over the PSP-1000 model. This is likely because the amount of RAM was doubled from 32MB to 64MB in the PSP-2000. I have not seen a single post complaining about lag on a PSP-3000 model but this does NOT prove the game is lag-free on a PSP-3000.

Others have claimed all the lag issues are gone in Project Diva 2nd, but if they used the same optimization then I highly doubt it's lag-free. If it is, then I suggest skipping the first game and grabbing the second. Project Diva 1 has too many bugs and the lag issue alone makes it unenjoyable past the third or fourth song set.
