My experience using Youmu in SWR

魂魄 妖夢 Konpaku Youmu
It have already 1 year i had played for the 東方緋想天 Scarlet Weather Rhapsody.

And now the sequel, or expansion of SWR , 東方非想天則 Touhou Hisoutensoku already release few days ago.

My favorite and best use character in SWR always is 魂魄 妖夢 Konpaku Youmu.

As i said above, Hisoutensoku already released, i myself, and i think most of the player that have play SWR already switch to Hisoutensoku.

So now i want to write some things about how i use and my experience in using Youmu in SWR as my gameplay conclusion for SWR.


Here i want to the write down the game experience about how i use use Youmu in SWR. Will write about Youmu in Hisoutensoku later.

For the Hisoutensoku,
since i did not play it for long time and did not VS any player yet, so i not really know all of the changes and new things, but all i have played, Hisoutensoku is almost the same with the SWR, the thing i write here basically is all can use in Hisoutensoku.

SWR is base on the last version, Ver 1.06.
Hisoutensoku is base on the lastest version for now, Ver 1.01.


Lets start the Youmu in SWR

My post about SWR few month ago, just a little things.

Now continue this post.

Acutally, the first reason i like to use Youmu when the time i starting to play the game, is because she is very easy to use and control. And when the time i choosing for my main use charecter, i decide to use her as my main character for the same reason.
After that i focus in Youmu and rarely use others character.

My Youmu card deck.
I did not change my card deck at all from last year December, use untill now.

My Youmu card deck- 気質発現 X 2
- 憑坐の縛 X 4
- 人符「現世斬」 X 3
- 断命剣「冥想斬」 X 4
- 人鬼「未来永劫斬」 X 4
- 剣伎「桜花閃々」 X 1
- 断霊剣「成仏得脱斬」 X 2


As above, I only need to level up skill 憑坐の縛,since the basic skill of Youmu is already good enough, so i only to bring along 4 skill card, and others is spell card, and 2 weather change as safety.


Skill Card
My own opinion to Youmu 's skill.

236 + B or C

反射下界斬反射下界斬
Basic skill.
Create a barrier that can reflex bullet from infront. The LV increse will increase the barrier reflex time. When LV Max can deal damage when creating the barrier.

Reflex itself is not usefull, and although LV Max can use in combo, but this is not easy to get LV Max and Weather, and by doing that will also need 4 card slot.

Not a usefull skill and not really a skill that will use in the real battle.


結跏趺斬結跏趺斬
A good skill that can clear the bullet barrage in the ground.
The damage of LV 1 and LV 2 having big differnt, and the range also will increase by LV up.

Not a bad skill, but i myself did not use it.


623 + B or C

弦月斬弦月斬
Basic skill.
Very usefull skill that having invicible time when using the skill.

B button, having invicible to melee attack.
C button, did not invicible to melee, but can graze the bullet.

B and C having diffirent ability, use them wisely depand on the situation.
C button having 2 hit, when the first hit hit, can combo with spell card.

But this skill having long recover time, if the skill miss or being guard only will given the opponant chance to use combo or spell.

A very usefull skill that can use in combo, counter, and anyothers way.
But for the skill itself not really need to LV up since it only will increase the damage, so dont need to have any card to upgrade.


折伏無間折伏無間
The only catch skill in the game.

Can throw the openant to left or right, can not be guard.
Holding the button when throwing will automaticly use kick and deal small damage.
Can also combine will Spell after throwing, but the damage will be very low since this skill having very high Rate very low rate that force the damage deal to opponent decrease very much.

A throwing skill that cant be guard, althought skill itself is not bad.
but this skill will replace with the 弦月斬. So i did not use it.


炯眼剣炯眼剣
Parry direct melee attack and counter attack.

Can use to parry direct melee attack and also some spell card.
The best use timing is when saw the opponent using some big action melee attack like charage attack and others.

Did not use it since not easy to catch the timing to use the skill.


22 + B or C

憑坐の縛憑坐の縛
Basic skill.
The same motion as 6C, but the range is shorter and the damage higher in SWR.

The skill penetrate power is depand on the skill LV, at LV 1 the skill will stop just hitting any bullet, but when the LV increase , the penetrate power of it will increase and also the damage. When LV 3 and 4 can penetrate most of the bullet. This will be very usefull.

A very good skill to use in middle range. Especially to the player that like to spam bullet, or the character like Yuyuko. And this skill also the important part in Youmu combo. I myself take 4 card to have better chance to LV up the skill.


悪し魂悪し魂
Blast a range attack ,the Hanshin(半身) as the center of the skill.
Range and damage will increase by LV up.

I myself did not use this at all, so dont have any detail of this skill.


奇び半身奇び半身
Shoot bullet from the Hanshin.
Bullect number and damage will increase by LV up.

I myself also did not use this skill at all, dont have any detail on it.


214 + B or C

生死流転斬生死流転斬
Basic skill.
Continue the skill combo by pressing the same skill command.

This skill can be choose to continue, or cancel by the player will, and this is the point of this skill.
This will let the opponent confuse in the game, like when hit the first hit of the skill, opponent will not know you want to continue the skill or not, if they attack or try to jump up on this time, can just have 2 and 3 hit to counter attack.
But one things need to becarfull is that the third hit will have very long recover time that if being guard or miss this hit only will give the opponent chance to attack.

And when the skill LV 2, will a another combo for this skill.
After the first hit , enter the command + C. This is a hit that will immediately crash the guard if the opponent guard miss. If opponent guard crash than can immediately attack with spell card.

I my self only use this skill when in melee cant use weather, since this skill cant use in combo. Above things is the things that i learn when i playing with others player. But myself did not use it .


心抄斬 心抄斬
A skill the attack on rush through on the ground with high speed.

The skill B and C button is different.
B button only having 1 hit.
C button having few hit, but all the hit combine damage is about the same with B button.

But the point of this skill in C button, that can decrease opponent's skill guage a lot if guard miss.

I myself did not use this skill so dont have more detail about it.


Spell Card
My own opinion to Youmu 's spell.

人符「現世斬」人符「現世斬」
Cost 2
Cut through the ground with high speed.

The way to use this is when see the opponent using some big action skill or attack in some range between two player, can use this spell to cut through.

And this spell also cant be guard when the opponent in the air, can use this when they are using attack in very low air or when knew they are going to jump.

Also can use with the combo, but the damage of it is not be good, only use it with combo when the last hit is enough to take down opponent.

But if this spell being guard, Youmu will stop right infront the player and opponent will having good chance to attack, need to carefull on this.


断命剣「冥想斬」断命剣「冥想斬」
Cost 3

The special of this spell is can force opponent to guard crash (even full skill guage) if guard miss.

A very good spell card that having good damage in combo by its cost. And also good when the opponent having low skill guage , can use this cut down the skill guage and crash guard and deal damage.

Very good attack card for dealing high damage in combo. I my self equip 4.


魂符「幽明の苦輪」魂符「幽明の苦輪」
Cost 2
Attack together with Hanshin.

I never use this before in VS player so dont know about this spell.


人鬼「未来永劫斬」人鬼「未来永劫斬」
Cost 5
power up version of 人符「現世斬」, Youmu strongest spell in SWR.

Having highest damage in Youmu Spell, having invisible time , the range and speed is longer and faster than 人符「現世斬」.

Since having invisible time and fast spell speed, this is a very powerfull counter spell that easy to use.

And also can use in the combo.

Beside the cost, this really Youmu 's strongest spell in all the way.


断迷剣「迷津慈航斬」断迷剣「迷津慈航斬」
Cost 4

Very slow from the spell use until the time cut down.
The Only advantage is having very big attack range.

The way to use it is when the opponent 's skill guage very low and having some distance with the user. Opponent really is cant evade in that situation.

But not a usefull spell.


魂魄「幽明求聞持聡明の法」魂魄「幽明求聞持聡明の法」
Cost 5
Power up version of 魂符「幽明の苦輪」.

Same as that, i did not use this.


剣伎「桜花閃々」剣伎「桜花閃々」
Cost 3

The skill when use in the middle or having distance to the wall is somesort of useless.

But this a skill that can easy crash guard and deal very high damage if player push the opponent to the wall. All of the attack of this spell will at the same place and force opponent to guard crash and deal high damage.

But this only use to the player that dont know this spell, since this can just simply evade by jump up.

Not really usefull spell. I equip 1 card is just for fun = =.


断霊剣「成仏得脱斬」断霊剣「成仏得脱斬」
Cost 4

Having invisible until the spell shoot. a very good counter spell.

Good counter spell.


Basic Combo
The combo i normally use in game. All the combo i use very easy one, to sure the combo can be done.
The damage is base on skill LV 1.

A > A > A > A > A
Damage : 2044

The most basic combo, use it when the opponent very far away to the wall that cant use others combo.


A > A > A > A > A > 弦月斬B
Damage : 2477

When the opponent stick the wall, use this.


A > A > A > ~

> 弦月斬C (first hit) > 人符「現世斬」
Damage : 2589

> 人符「現世斬」
Damage : 2513

> 断命剣「冥想斬」
Damage : 3423

> 人鬼「未来永劫斬」
Damage : 4494

Combo with spell.


A > A > A > 6A > ~

> 憑坐の縛 > JA > J6A
Damage : 2699

> 憑坐の縛 > J2A
Damage : 2587

> 6C > 憑坐の縛
Damage : 2517

> 憑坐の縛 > 6C
Damage : 2486

The combo i use most of the time, use above variable combo that depand of the range between the opponent and wall.


2A (variable hit) > 弦月斬C (first hit) > ~

> 人符「現世斬」

> 断命剣「冥想斬」

> 人鬼「未来永劫斬」

This combo that somesort of difficult to use, if did not input fast the 弦月斬 will be guard, and than is the chance for the opponent to attack. Danger on uing this.


JA > ~

> J6A or J8A > 6C > J6A or J8A

> all ground combo start with A

The combo that start with air JA, in air combo use J6A and J8A is depand on the height between user and opponent. And the combo after the 6C cant be continue if a distance between the wall too far.

And the ground combo is just hit the opponent in the ground than continue.


Others about using Youmu
I very like to use to the Charge 6A and the Charge 63A to break the opponent and attack with Spell or melee attack. And Youmu is really the character that very good in doing that.

If VS the player that weak in guard, than i use the guard crash very often.

But to the player know how to guard, i will not use it often since that is better to let opponent more difficult to predict the player move.
And that is not easy to a people that can focus all the time, crash guard sure will have effectibe and i really like to use it.
